Business Profile

Family portrait photography I'm a professional photographer specialising in family portraits. From my London base I cover a large area including; Surrey, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Kent and Sussex.

Every child and family are unique. I approach each shoot with this in mind. Spending a little extra time with my clients allows me to provide a bespoke service that attempts to capture personality.

Pre Shoot Consultation Having booked your shoot this will be our first meeting. We talk about everything relating to the session and I ask questions about the people being photographed. We cover locations, clothing, what to bring, how to prepare the children (and adults), my style and many other aspects.

It's best this takes place in your home but I'm happy to meet wherever is convenient, if necessary we can talk over the phone. By spending time discussing what you want I am able to tailor the shoot to you and ensure you get the most from your session.

Location Shoots If you have chosen a location session I will suggest beginning the shoot early. I find children tend to be at their best and the morning light is ideal for photography. The precise time will depend on the season but the earlier the better.

I always strive for natural expressions. By learning a little about my subjects I can connect with them and create natural reactions. I tend to talk, use humour and very gentle guidance to achieve the look we are going for.

During the pre-shoot consultation we will discuss locations. It's great to shoot in an area that has significance to you but if you would prefer I will gladly suggest places that will work.

Studio Shoots Studio sessions allow us some flexibility in terms of start time. That being said it's best to begin early as children's moods often flag toward the end of the day.

Studio shoots take place in the comfort of your own home. This avoids the intimidating nature of this type of photography. As you can imagine space is a requirement but this depends heavily upon what you want. For example the minimum space necessary is 2.5 x 3.5 metres. With this I can photograph two or three children (aged 8 and under) and do individual, full length shots; providing we are on a hard floor. If you're only looking for headshots I can work with slightly less space whereas if want a larger group we would need more.

If this type of shoot is something that interests you the pre-shoot consultation takes place in your home. I ensure the space will work and advise on alternatives if not. Given the scope of what we can create this time also gives us the opportunity to sit down and discuss all of the options.
